Theatre Costume Designer Salary

theatre costume designer salary
I am thinking about a few different careers, one of the ones I am thinking of is costume designing for plays?

I have now been to thousands of play productions at Chanhassen Dinner theatres, if any of you have recently scene the musical Footloose, my dad works there he is a musician. Anyways, I have scene footloose up to 3 times so far and met some really cool actors and actresses through my dad. I thought about looking into a costume designer for play productions, I am curious to hear from someone who has been in this production to tell me more about it, the salary, basics, and i am no sewer by any means but i am really great at sketching dresses and designs. I also know how to research fashion for a certain time period and pull ideas from that. I am a very creative person. Any of you designers help me out?

I recommend that you get involved with the theater department at your school. It’s the perfect place to begin to get experience in creating theater. If you are really serious about it, take sewing classes as well.

Also, find community theaters and offer your services to them. If they are willing, you can learn a great deal from them.

There are wonderful programs in universities that focus on costume design.

Good luck to you.
