Pirate fancy dress costumes are becoming increasingly popular to show up at any fancy dress event in or for kids to wear when they’re trick or treating on Halloween. You are obviously not stuck to just one choice though. There are other pirates you could imitate and get the costumes for, such as Disney’s Captain Hook, a more sinister pirate from Peter Pan or the other characters from the Pirates of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. It is easy to get inspiration from films, books or trawling through images of modern or old-fashioned pirates on the internet.

You can buy elegant, captains costumes which include more frills, long coats and deep red or gold fabrics. You can also acquire ghost ship pirate fancy dress costumes which means you can mix ghost with pirate for an eerier, more unique look but you are likely to need to get hold of face paints too. Peasant or deck hand pirate fancy dress costumes are more easily obtained as they are a little simpler with less extravagant detail and more rag-like clothing. Women can obviously wear any of the above but can also opt for a more feminine or sexier take on pirate costumes that include black knee high heels, skirts, long dresses, corsets, belts, plenty of frills and deep red fabrics. Most pirate costume sellers should also have a wide range of typical pirate accessories such as pirate hats, swords, black boots, big-buckles belts, guns, stick-on mustaches, wigs of long black hair or even dread locks, head bands, bandannas, eye patches and anything else you can think of. This means that you can have your own unique take on a pirate and create your own character and are not restricted in any way.
Pirate fancy dress costumes are a great option if you’re ever invited to any fancy dress event because you have so many options and anybody can take on the role of a pirate.
