How to convince my mom to let me take lessons?

Yesterday, I went riding on a trail with my friend to a stable that’s about fifteen minutes away from my house.
I’ve been asking my mom for years to let me take horseback riding lessons and everytime she said no she didn’t think it was safe. (she doesn’t like horses that much)
After I went, we were on the car on the way home and she was saying that we have a helmet at the store we work at (we work at a costume store who does theatrical rentals)
She said “oh if I can find it we’ll see if it fits you” and I was like “So can I take lesson?” and she said “Maybe”
I’ve been wanting to take them for forever!
I don’t want to push it…but what are some things I can do?
I don’t think money is much of an issue though.
Cause I can pay for it, I have a job
Oh no!
The helmet is a real riding helmet!
Another coworker, her daughter used to ride and then the woman gave it to the store.

Riding, you can tell your Mum, promotes many positive character-building atributes in young people.
respect for animals, and people,
responsibilty
dedication
physical fitness
to name but a few.

However do not ever use a second-hand riding helmet as if this has been subject to a hard fall in the past, it could have stress cracks inside, invisible to the eye, but will dramatically reduce any protection if you take a tumble. Any helmet that has been subjected to a hard fall should be scrapped and a new one bought. Not to do so could in a worst case situation mean the difference between life and death.

Have riding lessons at a recognised training stables, and please invest in a new helmet – your life could depend on it.
Have fun and good luck
