What are the decisive moments in the history of costume design?

I'm doing an essay on costume design and need only a basic understanding of the history and background. were there turning points in history? Can you recommend some good sites i have searched for hours and can only be found very complex stories of all times.

I Ging ignore everything the Greeks as it must find "lots" information – - – Theatre for us Westerners and Americans around 2007 – - – began in the period between mid Medeival – - – First there was And many religious Masques Pagents requires elaborate fancy gowns and masks – - – But really Theatre cast started by The Tudors (yes, I am shamelessly plugging a TV show). The Tudors loved and Maques Paegents under Henry the Eight bu daughter Elizabeth liked comedies and drama thus increasing William Shakespeare. Here it gets fun. . . There was 'prepared' suits, but yet modern costumes. In other words, in a play about ancient Rome as Julius Ceaser, current players wore Garb. Fantasy but not true to the period of time showed. This is important to note! Costume design also meant "favors." The players were poor and dependent the kindness of strangers. If I were an actor to say 20 or 30 and an aging widow congratulate dirty words whispered in his ear leeringly suggesting a private performance. Yu must! Not only for the pleasures of the flesh, that some fifty years or so, but for a substantial meal maybe some mint a jewelry store, a sample affection. But a SMAT actor knew to be interested in the closet. Yes there were closet cases at that time. And in going through the wardrobe, doawager invariably say, "Oh, that thing, I have not worn in ages – - – No! TAKE "an Elizabethan Player Many walked away with the treasure. And guess what, those old clothes still sharing surface and costume shops can be found in the cabinets of famous theaters. So, getting late here is a quick summary / / dates I can not give 100 percent —- 1500 's Ware Street was the norm – - no special effort in making costumes —– than the use and maintenance and the effect – - – - 1600 is more of the same until "the riots" and the Puritans closed the doors of theaters for several years and then made a reappearence Stuart and things were much as usual -. Go for Baroque 1700 – - With the arrival of the Kings in England Hanover and Fort Louis to be in France – - – things got estate – - – Oatrons Rico sponsor Compnies theater and a "hobby" of realism in a whole .. People set out to chronicle what's clothing created great picture books and the past that shows the Bible "Costumes" etc. colonial America clung to the approach that less is more longer than Europe, even through the early 1800's – Medium – 1800 – - – In Europe, playing some ridgidly stylized. Now you could not "do" Shakespeare in 'modern dress, "was to dress the cast in the style appropriate! Medium – 1800 in Europe, around 1870 in the United States. People are tired of "historical" epic, and wanted more "modern" works theater, silly comedies and dramas. Around 1870 began Dressmakers known to 'dress' plays in exchange for advertising. Women began to receive counseling clothing on stage. From 1900 the films start to transform the world and fashion intertwine with. Argh popular culture has things to do, but runs with it – - no information you need to learn how to search, type in the baroque style of clothing, then Victoria, toss in Theatre Design, a lot of fresh information. http://www.elizabethan-era.org.uk/elizabethan-costume.htm "" Did theatrical costumes reflect the correct period of the work? Whatever the game, and what was the work was created, the actors generally wearing the dress of her own time. The theater is new – the games are new. The works had to be produced in a hurry in order to ensure rapid turnover of new material for the Elizabethan audience insatiable and beat the competition of rival theaters. There was sufficient time to build a ready-made clothes shop reflecting the correct period of the work. Maybe the costumes in a play, like Julius Caesar, would have been easier to develop as caps are relatively easy to produce. In this case a combination of Roman clothing and Elizabethan clothing might have been seen together. The image on the top of the page shows a scene from King Henry IV (Part 2) by William Shakespeare. The play is set in early 1400. King Henry IV lived 1399-1413, but this is the kind of suit that would been used by the actors of Shakespeare – Elizabethan dress day. The clothing worn during the Elizabethan period – the Elizabethan theater, dress clothing of the upper class was sumptuous. The materials were covered with luxury and a variety of colors. Because the Statute of clothing (sumptuary laws) ordinary Elizabethans were able to take the last fashion. fashion clothing is only a distance, when wealthy nobles or royalty were in sight! Costumes in the Elizabethan theater, therefore, also as a fashion – Elizabethans suits the meaning of colors and materials – Character Recognition Everyone Elizabethan understand the meaning of different colored clothing – a somewhat strange concept in our modern age. Most of us recognize that purple was the color associated with royalty since the days of Roman emperors – but almost all colors of clothing has its own significance in the Elizabethan era! And this meaning is fully understood by the public. The colors of the costumes were reported an enormous amount of information as soon as the actor walked on stage! The types of materials and fabrics that have a similar effect. Many of the works had historical themes with royalty and nobles of the land. As soon as a character entered the stage of the fabric and the color of their clothing to indicate the role of the character he was playing – Elizabethan nobles and upper classes wore linen velvet, fur, silk, lace, cottons and taffeta. To understand more about this concept of character recognition by the colors and materials Please click the following links: Elizabethan Costumes – female roles during the Elizabethan era, men were only allowed to perform in the theater until 1660 – that was considered improper for a woman to perform that function. The boys were therefore hired to act in female roles. Apparel Elizabethan women was very prepared and was built with many layers of clothing. It would have taken considerable time, and the help of a dresser, dressing in the garb of a woman. Wigs, wigs, or as called them, were readily available because they were fashionable at the time so this was not an issue of clothing. However, the form used by Elizabethan women was! He was lead based and highly poisonous! The child actors were therefore very unhealthy, had nasty facial skin diseases and in fact a high proportion died of poisoning.
