Country Western Music?

I’ve listened to country music my whole life-I love it-it’s who I am…some people say “Country Western music” rather than just “Country Music”. Sometimes I think that people who say “Country western” think of country music as a joke, and clothing such and cowboy hats and boots as a costume. And anyway, country is more popular in the South than in the West…but don’t get me wrong, country fans are everywhere…does anyone else feel the same?

–Kelli

I agree with rose…when I hear the term “country-western” I think of the good country music from the 90′s and back. Or country music that has a swing to it. When I hear the term just “country” used today, I cringe because the majority of the people who just say “country” mean folks like taylor swift & big n rich. I’m from PA and there are tons of people who like all the different types of country. I prefer classic country and outlaw country, 80′s & 90′s country and alt-country. I’ve met people who say they like “country” music but have never heard a song from anyone from say past 5 years ago. If I would ask them what their favorite Mark Chesnutt song is, they’d say “who”. Sometimes I wear wranglers and a western shirt, some days I wear t-shirts and levi’s and flip flops, what I wear doesn’t change who I am. Or what I like. (and I don’t like pop country)
