Fashion At The Olympics

For most people, the Olympics are about sports. After all, the collective event, inclusive of summer and winter games, features competitions in all varieties of sports. Every two years, thousands of the most dedicated athletes across the world compete for gold, setting inspiring records and making history.

Over time, however – particularly with the growing involvement of the media at the Olympics – spectators have been paying attention to much more than just the sports. For example, there’s now a lot of focus placed on anticipated tensions between particular athletes, the personal lives of the athletes, and the politics around host nations and cities. Similarly, an increasing number of sports fans and Olympic spectators are now paying attention to things like fashion – or, what the athletes wear while competing for gold.

One example of this is in the fashions of the figure-skating world. Often times, the costumes that figure skaters choose to wear on the ice stir as much attention as how they actually perform. In fact, figure skating costumes are often dealmakers or breakers for many spectators – that is, it often helps “tip the scale” in the public eye, with regard to who comes out on top.

Of course, while figure skating gets much of the attention with regard to fashions, it’s not the only sport that has gained fashion recognition. A perfect example of this can be seen in the Norwegian curling team’s fashion choices during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

The team took their mark in Vancouver, dressed in red, white and blue argyle trousers – a move that immediately caused a stir among spectators, the media, and fellow athletes. However, reactions were mixed; while many ridiculed the fashion choice, others thought it added “spice” to the normally insignificant or bland uniforms generally worn by curling teams. Even Norway’s king commented on the trousers, calling them the “coolest” he had ever seen. It wasn’t long before the trousers earned their own social networking fan page, complete with more than 600,000 fans.

The trousers were picked out by second Chris Svae, who was happy with the attention that they brought Norway’s curling team. They were designed by a California-based company, Loudmouth, who outfit famous golfer John Daly. Many fans of the trousers were happy to discover that the trousers are available for purchase by the public. However, despite the sudden hype, they’re not likely to replace mens jeans, nor to become an everyday fashion staple just yet.

This may not be the ideal place to request this, but I am looking for a pest management provider in the pittsburgh region and have no way to find out who is the best. I found this company which is truly close to me and wished to see if any one has any critiques on them. Priority Pest Control, 524 Ross St, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 – (412) 346-6413
